When Everyone Seems Ahead Of You (But You’re Still Figuring Life Out)

There are days when it feels like everyone else has a clear life plan except you.
Somebody just got a job in a big company. Someone is going abroad. Someone is getting married. Someone is posting 'Life update' on Instagram every week. And you? You are staring at your ceiling at night, wondering what exactly you are doing with your life.
The invisible race in our 20s, nobody officially announces it, but in your 20s you are silently pushed into a race.
Not a race of “who am I becoming?” but a race of checklists like job, package, city, relationship, achievements. You open LinkedIn and see promotions.
You open Instagram and see vacations.
You open WhatsApp and see “Bro, big news!”.
Slowly, you start believing that you are the only one who is stuck. Everyone else is moving. You are buffering.
What people don’t post is what you don’t see on social media- the people with big salaries who hate getting up for work. The ones in relationships who feel completely alone inside it.The students who got into “top colleges” but are now lost and burnt out. No one posts their confusion, their therapy bills, their fights at home, their moments of “I have no idea what I’m doing”.
So your brain only sees highlights and assumes that is everyone’s full life.
The quiet pressure from family and society.
Then there is the pressure at home.
“Exams kab tak doge?”
“Ab toh kuch settled socho.”
“Look at your cousin, see how well he is doing.”
Most of them are not trying to hurt you. They are just scared.
Scared that if you don’t follow the usual path, you will suffer. So they keep pushing you towards the safest looking option, even if it slowly kills your curiosity. You end up carrying their fear and your own confusion at the same time. No wonder it feels heavy.
It’s okay to move at a different speed. Here is something nobody said clearly when we were growing up, the timelines are not copy paste.
Some people peak at 22. Some at 32. Some at 42. Life is not a college timetable where everyone has the same schedule. Moving slow does not mean you are moving wrong.
Taking time to figure yourself out is not a weakness. In fact, it might save you from waking up at 35, realising you climbed the wrong mountain just to impress people who were not even looking.
Small steps still count if right now you don’t have a five year plan, it’s okay.
Ask smaller questions like,
What is one skill I can start building this month that future-me will thank me for?
What is one habit I can drop that is clearly wasting my time and energy?
What is one tiny risk I can take that scares me a bit but excites me more?
You don’t have to redesign your whole life in one week.
You just need to keep taking honest, small steps instead of completely shutting down.
You are not actually behind, you are not behind your friends. You are not behind your classmates. You are on your own track.
Your life is not late, it is just different. There will always be someone younger doing more. There will always be someone older doing less.
If you measure your worth only by comparison, you will always lose. Measure it instead by one simple thing:
“Am I a little more honest, a little more skilled, a little more awake to my own life than I was last year?”
If yes, then you are moving. And that is enough for now.

I Still Choose My Dreams Over “Safe Options” (Even When It Makes No Sense)

There is always that one question people love to ask: “So, what are you doing these days?”
Most of the time, they don’t really want the honest answer. They just want to hear something safe: job, exam prep, higher studies, marriage plans, something that fits nicely into their idea of a “normal life”.
My real answer is messy.
I am still choosing my dreams.
And honestly, half the time, I am scared, confused, and wondering if I am completely mad.But I am still choosing them.
The “safe” path everyone talks aboutIf you follow the usual script, life looks very straightforward:
school-> college-> job-> EMI-> retirement. From the outside, it looks stable. From the inside, a lot of people are quietly suffocating in it.The funny thing is, when you are a kid and you say you want to do something big - become a pilot, start a company, design something crazy, travel, create art - people find it cute.
But when you grow up and still want those things, suddenly it becomes “unrealistic” and “immature”.
Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, the word “practical” kills a lot of dreams.
The guilt of wanting moreThere is a special kind of guilt that comes when your life is “okay” but you still want more.
You have a degree, maybe a job or some opportunities, a normal routine. On paper, nothing is horribly wrong. So why are you restless? You start questioning yourself:
“Am I just being dramatic?”
“Shouldn’t I just be grateful and quietly adjust?”But there is a difference between gratitude and surrender.
You can be grateful for what you have and still want to build something bigger.
Wanting more from your own life does not make you disrespectful. It just means you can see a version of yourself that others can’t see yet.
What choosing dreams actually looks like (in real life)Choosing your dreams is not some aesthetic Instagram moment with sunsets and quotes.
Most days, it looks like this:
》You open your laptop or notebook even when your brain is tired.
》You keep learning things that nobody around you is talking about.
》You say “no” to some comfort because you promised yourself you’d show up for your future.
》You feel like you’re behind everyone else, and still, you don’t stop.
There are days when you feel proud of yourself.
There are days when you feel like a total failure.
Both are part of the package. From the outside, people think you are “brave”.
From the inside, you know it’s not bravery, it’s just that you don’t know how to live any other way.
The risk we never talk about: regretEveryone warns you about the risk of failing.“What if it doesn’t work?”
“What if you waste time?”
“What if you end up with nothing?”Very few people ask:
“What if you never try?”That’s the part that scares me more.
The idea that 10–15 years from now, I might look back and think,
“I had a chance. I had energy. I had ideas. And I still chose the safer thing because I was scared of other people’s opinions.”Failure hurts, but regret haunts.
If something doesn’t work, at least you know you tried. You learn, you pivot, you outgrow it.
But if you never try, you are stuck with one big question mark for the rest of your life.
You will never feel fully “ready”“I’ll start when I’m ready” is one of the most dangerous lies we tell ourselves.
What does “ready” even mean?
More money? More support? More confidence? More clarity?None of that magically appears one fine morning.
Everyone who started something meaningful began with some level of confusion and fear. They figured it out on the way. They learned in public. They made mistakes with full speed. You don’t need to be ready.
You just need to be willing.
What choosing dreams means for me
For me, choosing my dreams doesn’t mean I hate stability or that I’m against a “normal job”.
It simply means:
》I want my daily life to feel aligned with who I am.
》I don’t want to shrink my personality just to fit into a safe structure.
》I’d rather experiment and fail than spend my entire life wondering “what if”.
Some days, it feels exciting.
Some days, it feels stupid.
But on both kinds of days, I know one thing: this path is mine. I did not copy-paste it from anyone else’s life. And that matters a lot to me.
A small challenge for you (and for me too)If you are reading this, there is probably at least one dream you quietly parked in a corner. Something you think about when you can’t sleep, or when you see someone else doing something bold. Not a fantasy. A real, possible thing.
Today, instead of just thinking about it again, do one tiny, slightly uncomfortable action related to it:
●Write down exactly what you want in one clear sentence.
●Tell one person you trust about it.
●Watch one practical video, read one real story, or take one specific step that moves you 1% closer.
You don’t have to change your whole life in one week. But you can prove to yourself that your dream is not dead, and neither are you.
Maybe people will still call it risky. Maybe they will keep telling you to “settle down” and “be realistic”.
That’s okay. They are talking from their fear. You are walking from your hope. Choosing your dreams doesn’t mean you are fearless.
It means you are scared… but you still move.
Even if the step is small. Even if nobody claps. Even if no one understands yet.And if that makes you different, maybe different is exactly what you were meant to be.

Myanmar’s Civil War: A Nation at War With Itself

Almost four years after Myanmar’s military seized power in a coup, the country has plunged into a full-scale civil war. What began as street protests in 2021 against the ousting of Aung San Suu Kyi has escalated into one of Asia’s most devastating conflicts — a war that has fractured the nation, displaced millions, and drawn in ethnic armies, militias, and ordinary civilians.

From Coup to Chaos

On February 1, 2021, Myanmar’s generals abruptly ended a decade of fragile democracy by arresting elected leaders and reclaiming power. The coup sparked outrage. Millions took to the streets in peaceful protests, banging pots and pans at night in defiance. The military’s response was swift and brutal — live bullets, mass arrests, torture.

By late 2021, peaceful demonstrations had transformed into armed resistance. Young men and women who once carried placards picked up rifles, joining newly formed “People’s Defense Forces” (PDFs) or aligning with long-standing ethnic rebel groups.

A Country in Fragments

Today, Myanmar is effectively carved into zones of control. The junta holds major cities like Yangon, Naypyidaw, and parts of Mandalay. But in border regions — Kachin, Karen, Chin, Shan, and Rakhine — ethnic armies and PDFs have seized vast territories.

The conflict has become a patchwork war, fought village by village, with shifting alliances. In late 2023 and 2024, anti-junta forces launched coordinated offensives, capturing towns and even border checkpoints with China and India. For the first time, the once-mighty Myanmar military, known as the Tatmadaw, appears overstretched and on the defensive.

The Humanitarian Catastrophe

The human cost is staggering. The UN estimates over 2.6 million people displaced inside Myanmar, with thousands fleeing into Thailand, India, and Bangladesh. Villages are burned, schools bombed, and civilians caught in crossfire.

Reports of atrocities are widespread: airstrikes on civilian areas, mass killings, and the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. Entire communities live in forests and makeshift camps, cut off from aid. Doctors and teachers have joined the resistance, leaving basic services in collapse.

International aid groups warn of famine in conflict-hit regions, where crops are destroyed and markets disrupted. “We are witnessing one of the world’s fastest-growing humanitarian crises, and yet it is underreported,” a UN official told Reuters earlier this year.

Global Silence, Regional Complications

Unlike Ukraine or Gaza, Myanmar’s war receives little global attention. Western governments have imposed sanctions on the junta, but international pressure has had limited impact. China plays a complex role — publicly calling for stability, while allegedly maintaining quiet ties with both the junta and some ethnic armed groups to protect its economic interests.

India, sharing a long border with Myanmar, is caught in a dilemma. It fears instability spilling over but also hesitates to fully oppose the junta, wary of pushing Myanmar closer to China. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), meanwhile, has been criticized for its inaction. Its much-touted “Five-Point Consensus” for peace remains little more than paper.

The Resistance Spirit

Despite the bloodshed, the resistance remains determined. For many young Burmese, the war is not just against military rule, but a fight to redefine the nation itself — away from decades of authoritarianism and ethnic oppression. In a rare show of unity, diverse ethnic groups and Bamar-majority activists are fighting side by side.

Yet challenges remain. The resistance is fragmented, short on heavy weapons, and reliant on donations from the diaspora. Still, their resilience has stunned observers. The Tatmadaw, once feared, now faces desertions and declining morale.

What Next?

As of 2025, Myanmar teeters between collapse and transformation. Some analysts believe the junta’s hold is weakening, pointing to recent battlefield losses. Others warn the military, with air power and foreign backers, can still cling to power for years.

What is clear is that Myanmar’s war is reshaping the region. Refugees strain neighboring countries. Border trade routes are disrupted. And for the 54 million people of Myanmar, daily life is marked by uncertainty — whether their village will be bombed, whether food will arrive, whether their children will survive.

“The world sees Ukraine and Gaza,” said a 24-year-old PDF fighter in Kayah state. “But here too, we bleed, we starve, we fight for freedom. Do not forget us.”

Ukraine–Russia War in 2025: Stalemate, Sanctions, and the Shifting Global Order

More than three years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the war shows no sign of ending. What began on a cold February morning in 2022 has turned into a grinding conflict of attrition — reshaping Europe’s security, splitting global alliances, and leaving millions of Ukrainians displaced.

A Battlefield Locked in Stalemate

On the ground, the frontlines in 2025 look eerily similar to those of 2023. Despite months of counteroffensives, Ukraine has struggled to push Russian forces out of key occupied territories in Donetsk, Luhansk, and the southern Zaporizhzhia region. Russia, meanwhile, has fortified its positions with trenches, minefields, and heavy artillery, turning the war into a drawn-out struggle rather than the swift victory either side once promised.

Both armies have paid a heavy price. Western intelligence estimates put Russian military casualties in the hundreds of thousands, while Ukraine, with a smaller population, faces manpower shortages that have forced Kyiv to extend conscription. Cities like Bakhmut and Avdiivka remain symbols of brutal urban warfare, where gains are measured in mere meters, not miles.

The West’s Dilemma

Ukraine’s survival has depended heavily on Western support, particularly from the United States and the European Union. Billions of dollars in military aid, advanced weapons like HIMARS rocket systems and Patriot air defenses, and intelligence-sharing have kept Ukraine in the fight.

But as the war drags on, Western unity has begun to fray. In Washington, political divisions have slowed down funding packages, while in Europe, economic fatigue has set in. Ordinary citizens question how long their governments can keep pouring resources into Ukraine while inflation and energy crises bite at home.

Still, NATO insists that abandoning Ukraine would embolden Russia and potentially threaten other Eastern European nations. “If Ukraine falls, Europe will not be safe,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg warned earlier this year.

Russia’s Strategy of Patience

For Moscow, the war has become a test of endurance. President Vladimir Putin appears to be betting on Western fatigue — waiting for Ukraine’s allies to grow weary and for internal divisions in Kyiv to widen. Despite heavy sanctions, Russia’s economy has adapted, leaning on energy exports to Asia, particularly China and India.

The Kremlin also continues to weaponize energy, using gas and oil supplies as leverage over Europe, even as the EU scrambles to diversify. At home, Putin has tightened control, silencing dissent and rallying nationalism around the idea of defending Russia from “Western aggression.”

The Human Cost

Beyond geopolitics, the human suffering remains staggering. Over 6 million Ukrainians have fled abroad, while millions more live as internally displaced people. Families have been torn apart, schools destroyed, and hospitals overwhelmed. Cities like Mariupol and Kharkiv lie in ruins.

International aid agencies warn of a “silent crisis” — trauma among children who have grown up under constant bombardment. Winter brings additional hardship, as electricity blackouts leave homes freezing and dark.

A Divided World

The Ukraine war has become more than a regional conflict; it has reshaped global politics. The United States and its allies frame it as a battle for democracy against authoritarianism. But in much of the Global South — Africa, Asia, Latin America — the war is often seen differently, as a European conflict draining resources that could be spent on global development.

China and India have walked a fine line, avoiding outright condemnation of Russia while urging peace talks. The UN, meanwhile, has struggled to play any meaningful role, paralyzed by vetoes at the Security Council.

What Lies Ahead?

As 2025 unfolds, the prospect of a decisive military victory for either side looks remote. Analysts warn that the war may continue as a frozen conflict — with frontlines solidifying but no peace in sight. Some diplomats quietly push for negotiations, but trust between Kyiv and Moscow is nearly nonexistent.

For Ukrainians, though, surrender is not an option. “If we stop fighting, we cease to exist,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a recent speech. For Russia, giving up its territorial gains would be a humiliation Putin seems unwilling to accept.

And so, the world watches as the war drags on — a reminder that history’s great conflicts are often not won or lost quickly, but endured, at great cost, until exhaustion forces a reckoning.

Inside the Gaza Conflict: A Humanitarian Crisis Deepening in 2025

A Humanitarian Tragedy Deepens in 2025

The Gaza Strip, already one of the world’s most volatile regions, is now enduring its darkest chapter in decades. What began as renewed hostilities between Israel and Hamas in late 2023 has stretched into a relentless war, plunging millions into a humanitarian crisis that shows no signs of easing.

According to United Nations estimates, nearly 2.3 million Palestinians—the entire population of Gaza—are now facing acute shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble, hospitals are running on emergency fuel reserves, and schools have been transformed into makeshift shelters. For the residents of Gaza, survival itself has become an everyday struggle.

Israel’s Stated Objectives vs. Reality on the Ground

Israel has defended its campaign as a necessary operation to dismantle Hamas’ military infrastructure. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) argue that Hamas continues to use civilian areas to shield its rocket launchers, command centers, and elaborate tunnel networks. “No country would tolerate constant rocket fire on its cities,” Israeli officials maintain, emphasizing their right to self-defense.

However, the scale of destruction and civilian casualties has sparked international outrage. More than 30,000 people have been reported killed, a majority of them women and children, according to Gaza health authorities. Human rights groups have accused both sides of violations of international humanitarian law, but much of the criticism has centered on the disproportionate toll inflicted by Israeli strikes.

The Humanitarian Collapse

Inside Gaza, humanitarian conditions have deteriorated beyond comprehension. Aid agencies describe scenes of families cooking grass and animal feed to survive. The World Food Programme has warned of looming famine conditions, with malnutrition among children rising at an alarming pace.

Hospitals, already under strain before the war, are now on the verge of total collapse. Doctors perform surgeries without anesthesia, using mobile phone flashlights for lack of electricity. “We are not even treating patients anymore,” one physician in Gaza City told international media. “We are only trying to keep them alive for another day.”

For civilians, there is no safe zone. Entire families have been displaced multiple times, forced to flee from one neighborhood to another as bombardments continue. In some areas, more than 80 percent of infrastructure lies in ruins—roads, water pipelines, and schools have been wiped out.

Regional Ripple Effects

The war has not remained confined to Gaza. Northern Israel has come under intensified rocket fire from Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, raising fears of a wider regional war. The conflict has also emboldened Iran and its allied militias, who openly back Hamas and other Palestinian factions.

Egypt and Qatar have repeatedly attempted to mediate ceasefires, but most agreements have collapsed within days. Arab nations, while publicly condemning Israel’s strikes, remain deeply divided on how far they are willing to go in terms of political or military support.

For Israel, the prolonged conflict risks overextension. Analysts warn that while military objectives may succeed temporarily, the war is eroding Israel’s international standing and fueling anti-Israel sentiment across the region.

The Global Fallout

Beyond the Middle East, the war has rattled global politics and economics. Oil prices have surged amid fears that the conflict could drag Iran directly into confrontation, threatening key shipping routes in the Gulf. Energy-importing nations, including India, are already grappling with the ripple effects of higher fuel costs.

Diplomatically, the war has polarized the international community. The United States continues to back Israel, while much of the Global South, including countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia, have voiced support for Palestinian rights. The United Nations Security Council has remained deadlocked, with resolutions repeatedly blocked by vetoes.

Children of War: The Lost Generation

Perhaps the greatest tragedy of Gaza’s war is the impact on its youngest residents. UNICEF estimates that over one million children in Gaza are now deprived of education, with many schools destroyed or converted into shelters. Psychological trauma is widespread, as children grow up amid airstrikes, funerals, and the constant fear of displacement.

Aid workers warn of a “lost generation”—children robbed not only of their education but of their sense of normalcy, security, and future opportunities. The scars of this war, they say, will outlast the conflict itself.

Will the Cycle Ever End?

The Gaza conflict is not new. For decades, wars and ceasefires have come in cycles, each leaving deeper scars than the last. Observers argue that unless a political solution is pursued in earnest, military victories will remain temporary and unsustainable.

Both sides remain entrenched in their positions. Hamas insists it will not disarm, while Israel refuses to accept any arrangement that leaves Hamas in control of Gaza. The result is a deadlock, with civilians paying the heaviest price.

For now, the war continues unabated. The international community debates, mediators shuttle between capitals, and aid agencies plead for access—but for families inside Gaza, the only certainty is more uncertainty.

The Road Ahead

As 2025 unfolds, Gaza faces a grim reality: even if the guns fall silent tomorrow, the task of rebuilding the shattered enclave will take decades. Trust between Israelis and Palestinians is at an all-time low, and without meaningful dialogue, another round of violence seems inevitable.

The world watches, often with outrage, sometimes with indifference, but rarely with decisive action. For the people of Gaza, the question remains hauntingly simple: how many more cycles of war must they endure before peace becomes more than a distant dream?

2025 Israel–Iran War: A New Flashpoint in the Middle East

The Middle East, long marked by turmoil, has entered one of its most dangerous phases in decades. In June 2025, tensions between Israel and Iran—simmering for years through proxy battles and shadow wars—erupted into a direct military confrontation. The consequences are being felt not only across the region but also around the globe.

From Covert Clashes to Open War

For years, Israel and Iran fought indirectly. Tehran supported armed groups in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Iraq, while Israel carried out targeted strikes and cyberattacks to disrupt Iran’s nuclear ambitions. But June marked a turning point. Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a wave of airstrikes aimed at Iran’s suspected nuclear facilities and military infrastructure.

Iran’s retaliation was swift. Missiles and drones struck Israeli cities and military bases, but the fallout did not stop there. Neighboring countries including Jordan, Iraq, and Syria reported impacts from cross-border strikes, with civilian populations caught in the middle. In just weeks, hundreds of lives were lost, and thousands were displaced from their homes.

Why This Conflict Is Different

Unlike earlier skirmishes, this war is not being fought only through proxies. It is a direct confrontation between two of the region’s most powerful states. Israel frames its actions as a defensive necessity to prevent Iran from advancing toward nuclear weapons capability. Iran, in turn, accuses Israel of destabilizing the region and violating international law.

What makes the situation more volatile is that both nations believe they are fighting for survival. For Israel, the fear of a nuclear-armed Iran is existential. For Iran, resistance against Israel has become tied to its identity as a regional power. Neither side appears ready to compromise, making diplomatic progress extraordinarily difficult.

Regional and Global Repercussions

The fighting has had immediate consequences beyond the battlefield.

  • Oil Prices: With much of the world’s energy passing through the Persian Gulf, markets have reacted nervously. Crude oil prices surged within days of the first strikes.

  • Refugee Flows: Civilians in border regions of Syria and Iraq are fleeing renewed violence, creating pressure on already stretched humanitarian agencies.

  • Economic Impact: Tourism across the region has collapsed, trade routes are being disrupted, and global investors are wary.

International responses remain divided. The United States and European Union have called for restraint, offering mediation while reaffirming support for Israel’s security. Meanwhile, countries such as Russia and China are urging dialogue but appear reluctant to pressure Tehran directly. Regional players, particularly Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, are watching cautiously—concerned that the war could spill into their territories.

Fragile Diplomacy

The United Nations has convened multiple emergency sessions. Yet consensus is elusive. Some nations demand an immediate ceasefire, while others insist Israel has the right to defend itself against Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In the absence of unity, humanitarian efforts are struggling to keep pace with the growing crisis.

Diplomats warn that without de-escalation, there is a real risk of the conflict spreading. Hezbollah in Lebanon has already exchanged fire with Israel, while militias in Iraq aligned with Tehran are threatening retaliation against U.S. forces. Each new development adds complexity to an already fragile situation.

Human Cost of War

Behind the headlines, it is ordinary citizens who are paying the heaviest price. In Israel, families seek shelter from incoming missiles. In Iran, hospitals are overwhelmed with casualties from airstrikes. In Syria and Iraq, people who have endured years of instability face yet another wave of violence.

Aid groups report rising numbers of children affected, with schools destroyed and basic healthcare disrupted. The war is not only reshaping geopolitics but also deepening humanitarian crises that will take years to repair.

A Precarious Future

As the war stretches into months, the path forward looks uncertain. Analysts believe neither Israel nor Iran can claim a decisive military victory without unacceptable costs. Yet with both sides locked into narratives of survival, compromise remains distant.

For the international community, the 2025 Israel–Iran war is more than a regional clash. It is a test of global diplomacy, collective security, and the ability to prevent local conflicts from spiraling into wider wars.

One thing is clear: the longer the fighting continues, the greater the risk that the Middle East, once again, becomes the stage for a larger conflagration.

Side Hustles for Students in 2025: How Young Indians Are Earning While Studying

Rising education costs are pushing students to explore side hustles in 2025. From freelance writing and online tutoring to social media management and affiliate marketing, here are the most practical ways for students to earn while studying.

For today’s students, balancing academic expenses with personal aspirations is becoming increasingly difficult. Rising tuition fees, hostel costs and everyday living expenses have made financial independence a priority. The good news is that the digital economy has opened up new ways for students to earn while studying — flexible side hustles that fit around lectures and exams.

One of the most accessible options is freelance writing and content creation. With companies eager to strengthen their online presence, students who are comfortable with words can find steady assignments on platforms like Fiverr or Upwork. A single well-written article can fetch anywhere between a few hundred to a few thousand rupees.

Teaching remains another reliable source of income. Online platforms have transformed tutoring into a global opportunity, where a student in India can coach someone in the United States or Europe. Whether it is school-level mathematics or advanced engineering concepts, online teaching offers both good pay and flexible hours.

The rise of social media has also created opportunities. Small businesses are willing to pay students who can design attractive posts, schedule content and engage audiences. What was once a pastime has now grown into a professional skill set. Similarly, graphic design using tools like Canva has become a quick earning option, with students designing posters, resumes or marketing material on a freelance basis.

Some are turning to reselling and dropshipping through platforms such as Meesho and Shopify. The model requires no physical inventory, making it especially attractive to students with limited capital. A parallel trend is affiliate marketing — recommending products online and earning a commission on sales.

Not all side hustles require long-term commitment. App testing, website reviews and short-term tasks on platforms like UserTesting provide pocket money for students who can spare an hour or two. Others, meanwhile, are experimenting with YouTube channels and Instagram reels, which, while slower to yield income, can evolve into significant revenue streams if content gains traction.

The essence of these opportunities lies in choice. Some students seek quick cash, others long-term skills that align with future careers. But the larger shift is clear — in 2025, earning while learning is no longer a dream but a practical reality.

Supreme Court’s Stray Dog Removal Order Sparks Outcry in Delhi

Why the Supreme Court’s Stray Dog Removal Plan is a Mistake

The Supreme Court’s recent order to capture, sterilise, vaccinate, and permanently relocate 5,000 to 6,000 stray dogs from Delhi-NCR is being hailed by some as a public safety measure. In reality, it is a deeply flawed solution that risks creating more problems than it solves.

Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, in force since 2023, are clear: sterilised and vaccinated dogs must be returned to their original locations. This is not just a humane provision; it is a practical one. Street dogs are territorial; removing them creates a vacuum that is quickly filled by unsterilised newcomers, restarting the population cycle. Over time, relocation without follow-up only moves the problem; it does not solve it.

Shelters in Delhi are already overcrowded. Many run by NGOs operate with limited resources, caring for hundreds of dogs each month. Adding thousands more will inevitably lead to cramped, unhygienic conditions, spreading disease and causing immense suffering to the animals the law is meant to protect. “There is no space for thousands of dogs to be housed permanently. This order ignores scientific and humane practices,” said Geeta Seshamani of Friendicoes SECA.

The ecological impact is another concern. Street dogs, while often seen as a nuisance, play a role in controlling rat and monkey populations in urban areas. Sudden mass removal risks disrupting this balance, potentially introducing new public health challenges.

On the human side, communities that have lived with and cared for local dogs for years will lose familiar, vaccinated, and socialised animals, only to face the arrival of unknown, unvaccinated ones in the future. Many residents are already tagging and documenting their neighbourhood dogs in an attempt to shield them from capture. “They are part of our community. Taking them away like this is cruel,” said East Delhi resident Arushi Chibber.

The surge in dog bite cases, nearly 2,000 per day nationwide, is alarming, but its causes run deeper than the presence of dogs alone. Poor waste management, lack of sterilisation coverage, and absence of public awareness on coexisting with animals are critical factors. Addressing these through robust ABC programmes, responsible waste disposal, and education is the proven, long-term path.

Delhi now faces a choice between a quick, politically satisfying fix and a sustainable, humane strategy. The latter demands more effort, but it is the only path that truly protects both people and the animals that share our streets.

FACT FILE: Why Mass Removal Fails and ABC Works

1. Scientific Evidence

  • The "vacuum effect" is well documented; removed dogs are replaced by unsterilised newcomers within months.

  • Returning sterilised dogs keeps populations stable and prevents uncontrolled breeding.

2. Global Precedents

  • Jaipur, India: Dog population reduced by 28% in 5 years through ABC, with rabies cases dropping to zero.

  • Kerala, India: Mass culling attempts in 2015 saw no long-term reduction, and bite cases returned to pre-cull levels within 18 months.

3. Ecological Role of Street Dogs

  • Help control rodent populations that spread leptospirosis and plague.

  • Keep monkey numbers in check in some urban pockets by defending territory.

4. Welfare Concerns

  • Overcrowded shelters increase the risk of canine distemper, parvovirus, and kennel cough.

  • Permanent confinement for previously free-roaming dogs causes severe stress and behavioural decline.

5. Better Solutions

  • Expand ABC coverage to at least 80% of the street dog population.

  • Improve waste management to remove a major food source for unowned dogs.

  • Run public awareness campaigns on coexistence, bite prevention, and rabies vaccination.

Tragedy in the Skies: Air India Flight AI171 Crashes Shortly After Takeoff in Ahmedabad

In a devastating incident that has shaken the nation, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff today, leading to fears of massive casualties and extensive damage in a densely populated neighbourhood.

What We Know So Far...

According to early reports from aviation authorities and eyewitnesses, the aircraft lost altitude rapidly just moments after takeoff, reaching only about 625 feet before it crashed into the densely populated Meghani Nagar area, barely 2 km from the airport runway.

The crash resulted in a massive explosion, sending fireballs and thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The impact has caused widespread damage to residential buildings and sparked panic in the area. Emergency services, including the fire brigade, police, ambulances, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), were immediately deployed to the site.

Number of People Onboard

Official statements from Air India have yet to confirm the final count, but sources indicate that the flight had between 230 and 242 passengers and crew members onboard. Emergency responders rushed to the site immediately, with fire brigades, ambulances, and teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arriving within minutes.

The area has been cordoned off, and massive rescue operations are underway. Search dogs, cranes, and local volunteers are assisting in efforts to pull people from the debris.

Navigating Career Transitions in the Digital Age

In the world we live in today, change is no longer the exception—it’s the new normal. Gone are the days when a single degree and a stable job could define your entire career. The digital age has rewritten the rules, making adaptability a top-tier skill. Whether you're moving from mechanical engineering to data analytics, from classroom teaching to edtech, or from HR to UX design, transitions like these are becoming increasingly common—and necessary.

So, what’s fueling this trend? The answer lies in the rapid evolution of technology. Artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing, and blockchain aren’t just buzzwords anymore. They’re reshaping industries and creating roles that didn’t exist a decade ago. For many, this has sparked a sense of urgency—either evolve with the times or risk being left behind. At the same time, online learning platforms, open-source communities, and upskilling bootcamps have lowered the barriers to entry into new fields, making career pivots more accessible than ever.

But making the leap isn’t always easy. Career transitions often come with fear and uncertainty—the fear of starting from scratch, of not being good enough, or of failing in a completely new domain. This is where mindset matters. A growth mindset—the belief that skills can be developed with time and effort—is key. It’s what turns a mid-career professional into a machine learning specialist, or a graphic designer into a product manager. Accepting that discomfort is part of the process makes the journey a lot smoother.

A smart transition starts with self-assessment. What are your core strengths? Which parts of your current role do you love, and which do you dread? What are your non-negotiables—flexibility, purpose, income, or stability? These reflections can guide you toward careers that match not just your skillset but also your lifestyle. From there, it’s all about research. Talk to people in the industry, read job descriptions, attend webinars, join LinkedIn groups. Build a roadmap—not just of what to learn, but also whom to learn from.

Don’t underestimate the value of transferable skills. Critical thinking, project management, writing, emotional intelligence, communication—these are universal currencies in the job market. They give you an edge, no matter which career you step into. Even hobbies like content creation or game modding can serve as powerful entry points into new domains like digital marketing or game development. Showcase these skills in your resume, portfolio, and interviews. Make your narrative about growth and reinvention.

One thing that helps immensely during transitions is a personal brand. Whether through a blog, a podcast, or a LinkedIn page, share your learning journey. Post about the courses you’re taking, the projects you’re working on, the mentors you’re listening to. This not only shows initiative but can also attract opportunities you weren’t actively looking for. Think of it as building a digital footprint that reflects where you’re going, not just where you’ve been.

Of course, the digital age also brings its own set of challenges. The constant pressure to keep up with trends, the gig economy’s instability, and the risk of burnout are real. That’s why self-care, digital detoxes, and healthy boundaries are just as important as upskilling. A transition should feel like stepping forward, not breaking down.

In the end, career transitions in the digital age are less about moving from one box to another—and more about evolving into a dynamic, multi-skilled version of yourself. The path may not be linear, and the destination might change along the way. But if you stay curious, stay connected, and keep learning, you’ll find your way—not just to a new job, but to a future that fits.

The Rise of Urban Air Mobility: Are Flying Taxis the Future?

Imagine this: you're late for work, the roads are jammed, and Google Maps shows red lines all over. But instead of stressing out, you tap an app, head to the rooftop, and within minutes, you're flying above the chaos in an electric flying taxi. What sounds like science fiction is fast becoming a reality, thanks to a growing interest in Urban Air Mobility (UAM). It’s not just a futuristic dream anymore—2025 is already seeing major steps toward making this a part of our everyday lives.

So, what exactly is Urban Air Mobility? In simple terms, it refers to a transportation system that uses small, advanced aircraft—often electric or hybrid—to transport people and goods within urban environments. These aircraft, known as eVTOLs (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) vehicles, don’t need runways and can take off and land vertically, just like helicopters but quieter, cleaner, and smarter. The vision isn’t limited to just flying taxis. It includes a full ecosystem: rooftop landing hubs (called vertiports), traffic management systems for low-altitude airspace, and autonomous drones for deliveries.

But why is this idea catching fire now? Several reasons. First, traffic congestion in cities is worse than ever, and traditional infrastructure just can’t keep up with urban growth. At the same time, we’re seeing massive technological advances—better batteries, lightweight materials, autonomous navigation, and AI-based flight controls. Add to this the global push for sustainable transportation, and electric flight suddenly seems like the natural next step. Also, companies like Joby Aviation, Lilium, Archer, and even aerospace giants like Airbus and Boeing are investing billions into making UAM commercially viable. Clearly, there’s serious momentum behind this movement.

The question then is: how will this actually work in our cities? At first, flying taxis won’t be zipping through the air at random. They’ll operate on set routes between high-demand locations—think airports to business districts. Users can book them through apps, much like how we use Uber today. These aircraft will land and take off from vertiports, which could be located on skyscraper rooftops, parking structures, or even converted helipads. Over time, we can expect more sophisticated integration with public transport, possibly allowing you to fly across town and then hop into a metro train or electric bus for the last mile.

Of course, there are significant challenges. Safety is the biggest concern—people will need to trust that these vehicles can fly reliably in all conditions. Air traffic control will also need to evolve to manage the increased low-altitude traffic, especially in crowded cities. Infrastructure, like charging stations and vertiports, needs to be built, and that requires not just money but also cooperation between governments, private players, and urban planners. And then there’s cost—will flying taxis be affordable for everyone or just a luxury for the wealthy?

Despite these hurdles, some cities are already laying the groundwork. Dubai is working closely with Joby Aviation and plans to launch commercial air taxi services by 2026. Paris tested UAM solutions during the 2024 Olympics to shuttle VIPs between venues. In the U.S., Los Angeles is setting up urban air corridors, while Singapore is building regulatory frameworks for UAM. In India, cities like Bangalore and Mumbai have also shown early interest, and we might see pilot programs by the end of this decade.

So, are we really ready for flying taxis? Not quite yet—but we’re definitely getting closer. It will start small, maybe only in certain premium corridors or during emergencies. But within the next 5 to 10 years, flying taxis may become as routine as catching a cab. They won’t replace traditional transport entirely, but they’ll add a new layer of flexibility and efficiency, especially for cities struggling with road congestion.

Urban Air Mobility is more than just a tech trend—it’s a vision of a cleaner, faster, and smarter urban future. Whether you’re excited, skeptical, or somewhere in between, one thing’s clear: the skies over our cities are about to get busier. And maybe, just maybe, your next commute will be through the clouds.

How Space Tourism is Evolving in 2025

Billionaires to Backpackers: The Expanding Universe of Space Travel

Space—once the domain of astronauts in bulky suits and government agencies with billion-dollar budgets is rapidly becoming a destination for the curious, the wealthy, and the adventurous. In 2025, space tourism has taken significant strides, moving from a sci-fi fantasy to a booming commercial reality. Rockets are lifting off more frequently, spacecraft are becoming more affordable (relatively), and companies are racing to offer the next best cosmic experience.

Just five years ago, space tourism was little more than a few joyrides by billionaires. But the launch landscape has dramatically changed. Today, with private firms like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic leading the charge, suborbital flights, orbital hotels, and even lunar mission bookings are beginning to feel within reach—at least for the top 1%.

"We're not just dreaming about space vacations anymore—we're packing our bags."

From Minutes of Weightlessness to Days in Orbit

Early space tourists experienced mere minutes of weightlessness aboard suborbital flights. But 2025 offers so much more. Blue Origin’s New Shepard continues to take civilians above the Kármán line, while Virgin Galactic provides a smoother, plane-launched experience. Meanwhile, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon is ferrying passengers into low Earth orbit (LEO), allowing for stays on the International Space Station or private space modules.

The next frontier? Orbital hotels. Companies like Orbital Assembly Corporation are developing rotating space stations designed for comfort and luxury in microgravity. Think gourmet space meals, sunrise views every 90 minutes, and zero-G yoga classes.

Training for the Final Frontier

Space tourism in 2025 isn't as easy as booking a plane ticket—yet. Travelers undergo several days of training that include zero-G simulations, pressure acclimatization, and emergency protocols. It’s more extreme than skydiving but less intensive than astronaut training. Some training programs have even become experiences of their own, attracting adventurers eager to taste the edge of space even without liftoff.

Health and safety protocols have also advanced. Medical screenings are streamlined, onboard AI monitors passenger vitals, and spacecraft are equipped with automated safety systems to ensure smooth rides—even when Earth is thousands of kilometers below.

The Price Tag: Still Sky High (But Falling)!!

Space tourism remains a luxury—tickets range from $250,000 to tens of millions. Yet as more players enter the arena, costs are slowly declining. Reusable rockets, smaller spacecraft, and growing public-private partnerships are all making space travel more accessible. Some companies are even exploring lotteries and sweepstakes to give everyday people a shot at orbit.

Governments are also taking note. NASA and ESA are partnering with private firms to regulate and support safe space tourism while ensuring public access to space doesn’t interfere with scientific missions.

"In 2025, space is still expensive—but no longer exclusive."

What's Next: Moon Trips and Mars Dreams

The future is moving fast. SpaceX’s Starship is prepping for orbital tests and eventual moon flybys, with Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa still pushing his #dearMoon mission. Discussions are even beginning around Mars tourism—with long timelines, of course.

As technology evolves and demand grows, space travel may soon shift from a once-in-a-lifetime thrill to a long-weekend getaway. Already, spaceports are being built, travel agencies are opening cosmic divisions, and the travel bucket list is getting a new top entry: space.

Final Thoughts: The Universe is Open for Business

Space tourism in 2025 is an exhilarating blend of science, ambition, and luxury. While not yet mainstream, it's inching closer to being a real option for non-astronauts. What was once a distant dream is now a purchasable package—with a few training sessions and a waiver or two.

As rockets roar, zero-gravity selfies trend, and humanity reaches beyond Earth, one thing is clear: the space age isn’t coming—it’s here.

"The stars are no longer out of reach—they’re waiting for check-in."

Sustainable Aviation: The Future of Green Air Travel

The Sky is Turning Green: Welcome to the Era of Sustainable Aviation

A quiet revolution is taking place above our heads. In an era where climate change dominates global conversations, the aviation industry is preparing for a greener, cleaner future. Sustainable aviation is no longer a buzzword—it's a full-blown movement reshaping how we take to the skies. As carbon footprints and fuel emissions come under scrutiny, airlines, innovators, and environmentalists are all racing to develop solutions that could redefine modern air travel.

"Flying should no longer cost the Earth."

Commercial aviation has been one of the most polluting industries on the planet for decades. Traditional jet fuel is a fossil fuel, and air travel contributes approximately 2-3% of global CO2 emissions. With the demand for air travel soaring, the urgency to transition to more sustainable solutions has never been greater. Enter sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), electric planes, hydrogen propulsion systems, and improved aircraft design.

What is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)?

Sustainable Aviation Fuel is the game-changer that airlines are betting on. Derived from renewable sources like used cooking oil, algae, municipal waste, or agricultural residue, SAF offers up to an 80% reduction in lifecycle carbon emissions compared to conventional jet fuel. Major airlines, including United, Lufthansa, and British Airways, have already begun testing SAF blends on commercial flights.

But SAF isn't without its challenges. High production costs, limited availability, and lack of infrastructure have prevented it from being adopted at scale. Still, it's a promising leap in the right direction. Governments and global organizations are investing billions to scale production and bring costs down. The hope? That one day, SAF will become the new normal.

Hydrogen and Electric Aircraft: Flights Without Fossil Fuels

The idea of a zero-emission aircraft once belonged in science fiction. Today, it's inching closer to commercial reality. Companies like ZeroAvia and Airbus are leading the charge with hydrogen-powered planes, while others, including Eviation and Pipistrel, are working on fully electric aircraft designed for short-haul routes.

Hydrogen, when used as a fuel, emits only water vapor. Electric planes, on the other hand, produce zero emissions during flight. These technologies could revolutionize regional air travel, dramatically cutting carbon emissions. However, battery limitations and the size of current electric motors mean that long-haul electric flights are still years away from feasibility.

Reimagining the Airplane: Green Engineering and Smart Design

It’s not just about what powers the plane—it’s about how it is built and flies. Aerospace companies are investing in aerodynamic designs that reduce drag and fuel consumption. Lighter composite materials, like carbon fiber, are replacing heavier metals to improve efficiency. Winglets (those little tips on airplane wings) might look stylish, but they also reduce turbulence and fuel burn.

Engineers are also exploring blended wing body (BWB) aircraft—a futuristic design where the fuselage and wings merge into a single shape. BWB aircraft could significantly reduce fuel usage while increasing passenger capacity. Combined with new propulsion systems, these planes represent the future of low-impact flying.

Ground Up Change: Airports and Policies

Green aviation isn't just about what's in the air. Airports are going green too, adopting renewable energy, electric ground support vehicles, and smarter traffic management systems. Amsterdam Schiphol and Singapore Changi are leading the way in sustainable airport operations, aiming for carbon neutrality within the next decade.

Government policy plays a huge role in the future of aviation. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has set goals for carbon-neutral growth, and the EU has introduced mandates requiring a blend of SAF in all flights departing Europe by 2030. Incentives, carbon taxes, and stricter regulations are pushing airlines to innovate or get left behind.

"Sustainability isn't a choice anymore—it's survival."

Flying Green: The Role of the Passenger

Passengers, too, have a role to play. From choosing airlines with better environmental practices to offsetting carbon emissions, travelers are becoming more conscious of their aviation footprint. Some even opt for alternative transport for short-haul travel, like trains and electric buses.

Transparency is key—many airlines now include emissions data when booking tickets. As demand for greener options rises, the pressure on the aviation sector to meet sustainability goals intensifies.

Final Approach: A Greener Sky Awaits

The aviation industry stands at a pivotal crossroads. Sustainable aviation isn’t just a trend—it’s the future of flight. Though the path forward involves complex challenges, from scaling SAF production to redesigning aircraft from scratch, the momentum is real and growing.

As we glide toward a world that demands cleaner air and responsible travel, sustainable aviation will be the wing beneath our collective green dreams.

"It’s not about flying less—it’s about flying better."

Artificial Intelligence (AI) isn’t just knocking on our doors—it has barged in, taken a seat, and started reshaping industries at lightning speed. From assembly lines to customer service, AI is revolutionizing how work gets done. While it fuels efficiency and innovation, it also stirs up concerns about job security, skill gaps, and economic shifts. As we charge into 2025, AI is no longer a futuristic fantasy—it’s an unstoppable force shaping businesses, employment trends, and workforce dynamics worldwide.

AI: The Unstoppable Force Reshaping Work

“AI is not just a tool; it’s a co-worker, a decision-maker, and sometimes, a competitor.”

The workplace is undergoing a seismic shift. AI is no longer a silent assistant but a leading player in various industries. Repetitive, monotonous tasks are vanishing as AI-powered automation takes over, making workplaces leaner and more efficient. From chatbots in customer service to robotic process automation (RPA) in manufacturing, businesses are shedding manual dependency at an unprecedented rate. AI isn’t just executing tasks—it’s making decisions, helping companies analyze vast datasets, optimize supply chains, and forecast trends with mind-blowing accuracy. And rather than replacing humans outright, AI is supercharging human capabilities, assisting doctors in diagnosing diseases, financial analysts in making sharper predictions, and researchers in uncovering groundbreaking insights.

AI’s Silent Takeover: The Jobs That Are Disappearing

Yet, AI’s rise isn’t all smooth sailing. Several job roles are feeling the heat, with automation eliminating positions that were once considered indispensable. Factory workers are seeing robots take over welding, packaging, and quality control. Retail cashiers are being replaced by self-checkout systems and AI-driven inventory management. Data entry clerks and administrative assistants are losing ground as AI can process vast amounts of information faster and more efficiently. Customer support is undergoing a radical transformation, with chatbots handling inquiries without human intervention. Even content creators are feeling the impact, as AI-powered writing tools churn out articles, reports, and marketing materials, shrinking opportunities for entry-level writers.

“Automation doesn’t ask for a raise. It doesn’t take sick leaves. It just works.”

New Horizons: The Jobs AI is Creating

But while AI is closing some doors, it is flinging open others. The demand for AI and machine learning engineers is skyrocketing, as companies race to build smarter algorithms. Data analysts and scientists are needed more than ever to interpret AI-generated insights. Cybersecurity has become a battlefield, with businesses scrambling to hire experts who can combat AI-powered threats. Ethical concerns around AI have given rise to AI ethics consultants, ensuring companies deploy AI responsibly. And in medicine, AI-driven healthcare solutions are creating new roles for professionals who can integrate AI into treatment and diagnostics.

Industries Revolutionized by AI

No industry is untouched by AI’s influence. Healthcare is experiencing a renaissance with AI-powered diagnostics, robotic surgeries, and personalized treatment plans. In finance, AI-driven trading bots, fraud detection systems, and robo-advisors are revolutionizing investment strategies. Retail and e-commerce have never been smarter—AI-curated shopping experiences, automated warehouses, and hyper-personalized customer interactions are now the norm.

The Dark Side of AI: Challenges and Ethical Dilemmas

Despite the exciting advancements, AI’s rise brings serious challenges. The looming fear of job losses due to automation is a pressing concern, as is the growing gap between those with AI-related skills and those without. Ethical and privacy issues surrounding AI in hiring, surveillance, and data handling are raising eyebrows. Economically, AI’s benefits risk being concentrated in the hands of a few, widening the wealth gap and leaving low-skilled workers struggling to keep up.

“AI isn’t just changing work—it’s changing who gets to work.”

How to Stay Relevant in the AI Era

So how can individuals stay ahead in an AI-dominated world? Adaptability is key. Learning AI-driven skills, diving into data analytics, and picking up programming languages like Python can future-proof careers. But it’s not just about technical knowledge—creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence are human traits that AI struggles to replicate. Continuous learning, whether through AI-related courses, certifications, or self-driven upskilling, is now a necessity rather than an option. Instead of fearing AI, professionals should embrace it, using AI tools to enhance their own productivity and decision-making.

The Verdict: AI Is Here to Stay—Are You Ready?

Governments and corporations are taking notice, rolling out initiatives to counter AI’s disruptive effects. Large-scale reskilling programs are emerging, designed to help workers transition into AI-focused roles. Policymakers are working to regulate AI use, ensuring it is implemented ethically and without mass layoffs. Collaboration between universities, businesses, and government agencies is closing skill gaps and generating fresh employment opportunities in AI-related fields.

AI isn’t just another technological advancement—it’s a revolution, redefining how we work, what we do, and where we fit in the economy. It’s making industries smarter, making businesses more efficient, and opening up new frontiers of innovation. But it’s also demanding that workers evolve, learn, and adapt at an unprecedented pace. The AI-driven future isn’t approaching—it has arrived.

The question is, will you harness its power, or will you be left struggling to catch up?

Aerospace Engineering: A Complex Field, Often Dubbed "Rocket Science"

Aerospace engineering is a multidisciplinary field focused on designing, developing, testing, and producing aircraft, spacecraft, and related systems and equipment. Often referred to colloquially as "rocket science," the field is renowned for its complexity, precision, and technological innovation.

Why is Aerospace Engineering Called "Rocket Science"?

Rocket Science as a Subfield:

Rocket science is a branch of aerospace engineering dedicated to designing, developing, and operating rockets and spacecraft propulsion systems. It involves detailed calculations and intricate engineering processes to ensure the successful launch, control, and operation of these advanced vehicles.

Although rocket science is a significant and challenging area, aerospace engineering as a whole encompasses much more. The field is divided into several key disciplines:

  • Aerodynamics: Understanding how air interacts with moving objects, from airplanes to spacecraft.
  • Propulsion Systems: Developing engines that power aircraft and spacecraft, including jet and rocket engines.
  • Structures: Designing robust yet lightweight structures capable of withstanding extreme forces.
  • Materials Science: Innovating materials to endure high stress, heat, and harsh environments.
  • Control Systems: Crafting the technology that enables precise navigation and stability during flight.

Both rocket science and aerospace engineering require an extraordinary level of expertise and precision. They involve:

  • Advanced Calculations: From flight trajectories to engine thrust, every detail must be mathematically sound.
  • Sophisticated Simulations: Predicting and optimizing performance under various conditions.
  • Rigorous Testing: Ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency through exhaustive experimentation.

More Than Just "Rocket Science":

Aerospace engineering goes far beyond rockets. The field drives innovation in:

  • Aircraft Design: From commercial planes to fighter jets.
  • Satellites: Supporting communication, navigation, and Earth observation.
  • Space Exploration: From Mars rovers to telescopes observing distant galaxies.
  • Emerging Technologies: Including drones, electric aircraft, and space tourism vehicles.

Relationship Between the Two

  • Aerospace Engineering covers everything related to flight, both within Earth’s atmosphere (aeronautics) and beyond (astronautics). It includes subfields like aerodynamics, propulsion, materials science, structures, and control systems.
  • Rocket Science focuses specifically on the design, development, and operation of rockets and propulsion systems used for space exploration and defense applications.

Which is "Higher"?

Neither is necessarily "higher" than the other; they serve different purposes:

  • Rocket Science is more focused and specialized: It involves mastering the complexities of propulsion, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft design.
  • Aerospace Engineering is broader: It includes rocket science but also addresses the design and operation of aircraft, drones, and other systems that may not involve rockets or space.

In short, aerospace engineering has a wider scope, while rocket science delves deeply into a narrower field. If someone aspires to specialize in rockets and space travel, they would study aerospace engineering with a focus on astronautics or propulsion.

Observing Parenting Styles: Balancing Love, Freedom, and Expectations

I’m not a parent myself, but from watching how parents in my family and friend groups raise their kids, I’ve noticed a few patterns. Of course, every parent loves their child and wants what’s best for them, but the ways they go about it can be pretty different. No offense to any parents reading this—these are just observations from someone on the outside looking in.

1. The "Comfort-First" Parents: "I Want to Give My Child Everything"

Some parents are all about making sure their children have the most comfortable life possible. These parents often say, "I don’t want my child to go through the struggles I did." They’ve worked hard to get where they are and don’t want their kids to deal with the same hardships.

The result is that their kids get a lot of freedom—within certain limits. They’re told, "Do what you want, as long as it’s safe." The challenge here is that while these parents are trying to protect their kids, they’re also keeping them in a bit of a bubble. Life can get tough, and when it does, these children may not have the experience of dealing with real-world challenges.

The Good Side: These kids feel deeply loved and supported, growing up with a lot of security and opportunities.

The Tough Side: When life throws curveballs (which it always does), they might struggle to adapt because they haven’t had to step out of their comfort zone much.

2. The "We Know What’s Best" Parents: Over-Involved and Strict

Then, there are parents who want to guide every decision their child makes because they believe they know what’s best. These parents usually have a clear idea of what they want their child’s life to look like, and they work hard to steer them in that direction. It’s often out of love, but the message is something like, "Follow the path we’ve set for you, and you’ll avoid trouble."

These parents are usually strict and protective, not leaving much room for their children to make their own choices. The upside is that these kids are usually very disciplined and have a clear sense of direction. But at the same time, they might feel like they don’t have much control over their own lives.

The Good Side: These children grow up with a strong sense of discipline and purpose, often avoiding risky paths their parents see as dangerous.

The Tough Side: They may feel restricted or frustrated because they’re not allowed to make their own choices and learn from their own mistakes.

3. The "Free, But With Expectations" Parents: "We Support You, But…"

Lastly, there are the parents who seem pretty laid back on the outside. They give their kids a certain amount of freedom, letting them explore their interests and make choices. But underneath that freedom, there’s often an unspoken expectation. These parents might say, "Go ahead, follow your dreams!" but with the silent add-on of, "…as long as it aligns with our expectations."

The kids in these families might feel supported but also a bit pressured to meet certain standards. The freedom they have comes with a side of expectation, making it hard to fully break away and pursue their own path.

The Good Side: These kids are given more room to make their own decisions, and they have supportive parents behind them.

The Tough Side: The unspoken expectations can create pressure. Even with the freedom to choose, they might feel like they’re never quite living up to their parents’ hopes.

One Common Thread: Love and Protection

No matter the approach, the one thing all these parents have in common is that they want what’s best for their kids. They just have different ideas about how to get there. Whether they’re giving them everything, guiding their every move, or balancing freedom with expectations, it all comes from a place of love and protection.

The Kids’ Challenge

For children, growing up in any of these environments can be tricky. Kids raised in comfort-first homes might struggle when they face the inevitable challenges of adulthood. Those with strict, over-involved parents may find it hard to make decisions on their own. And kids raised with a mix of freedom and expectations might feel torn between following their own dreams and living up to what their parents want for them.

Finding balance is key—learning from the support and protection their parents offer while also figuring out how to step out on their own.

In Conclusion: Parenting Isn’t Easy

Being a parent is hard, and there’s no perfect formula. Every parent wants to see their child happy, safe, and successful, and they do their best to make that happen. But parenting is complex, and every approach has its strengths and weaknesses. What’s important is the love and care behind it all, even if the methods differ from one family to the next.

As someone looking in from the outside, it’s clear to me that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting. Each family is different, and each child is different. The most important thing is that parents stay open and adapt as their children grow, knowing that their love is what matters most in the end.

How Social Media Algorithms Can Impact Our Mental Health: Finding Balance in a Connected World

Introduction

We all know social media is an incredible tool. Whether it’s staying in touch with friends, promoting a business, or simply enjoying some entertaining content, platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook have become an integral part of our lives. They help us feel connected, inspire us, and even provide endless opportunities to learn something new.
But for all the good things social media brings, there’s another side to the story—one that often goes unnoticed: how these platforms, especially their algorithms, can sometimes affect our mental health in ways we don’t realize.

What Exactly Are Social Media Algorithms?

Algorithms are like the unseen forces behind our social media feeds. They decide what posts, videos, and stories show up on our timelines based on what we’ve liked, shared, or commented on. In simple terms, the algorithm wants to give you more of what it thinks you’ll like, to keep you engaged and scrolling.

While that sounds great (and it often is), there’s a flip side. Sometimes, this ultra-personalized content can have unintended consequences—especially when we’re going through tough times emotionally.

When Algorithms Play a Bigger Role in Our Emotions

Here’s the thing: algorithms don’t just serve up random content. They respond to what we engage with. If you’ve been feeling down, for instance, and you start watching or liking posts about sadness, breakups, or loneliness, the algorithm might show you more of the same. It’s not trying to make you feel worse, but it can unintentionally create a loop where your feed is filled with content that reinforces those feelings.

It can feel comforting at the moment to see that others are going through similar struggles, but constantly consuming that kind of content may not help lift your mood. Instead, it could prolong the feelings you're already dealing with.

How Depression and Negative Content Can Create a Loop

Let’s say you’re feeling a little low and, while scrolling, you come across some relatable content about being sad or feeling isolated. You watch a couple of those reels, maybe even like or comment on them. The algorithm picks up on this and thinks, "Great, they like this type of content!" So, it starts showing you more posts in that same vein.

Before you know it, your feed becomes an echo chamber, filled with more and more content that reflects your current emotional state. While it might feel good to see posts that you relate to, over time, it can actually deepen those feelings, making it harder to break out of the cycle.

The Subtle Addiction of Endless Scrolling

Another thing that makes social media tricky is how addictive it can be. Algorithms are designed to keep us engaged. The more we scroll, the more we see, and the more content we’re tempted to interact with. Have you ever found yourself planning to check Instagram for just a few minutes, only to realize an hour has passed? You’re not alone.

Platforms are designed to release small bursts of dopamine (that “feel-good” chemical) every time we get a notification, a like, or come across something we enjoy. This makes us want to stay online longer, chasing that next little high. The downside? It can easily become a habit, leading to less time spent on real-life activities that are better for our mental health.

The Effects of Social Comparison

Another layer of complexity comes from comparison. We’ve all been there: scrolling through our feed and seeing someone else’s perfectly curated life. Whether it’s someone’s vacation photos, fitness journey, or career milestones, it’s easy to start feeling like our own lives are falling short. Even though we know these are just highlights, it can still create a sense of inadequacy.

When you’re already feeling down, seeing others’ seemingly perfect lives can make it even harder to feel good about your own situation. It’s not that the algorithm is trying to make you feel bad—it’s just responding to what’s popular and trending. But without realizing it, we can end up comparing ourselves to an unrealistic version of reality.

Taking Control: How to Manage Social Media for Better Mental Health

The good news is that we don’t have to be passive consumers of whatever the algorithm serves up. With a few mindful steps, we can shape our social media experience to support, rather than hurt, our mental health.

Here’s how:

1. Be Aware of Your Emotional State

Before you start scrolling, take a moment to check in with yourself. Are you feeling anxious or down? If so, be mindful of how you’re using social media. If your feed starts reflecting or reinforcing negative feelings, it might be a good time to switch gears and look for something that lifts your mood.

2. Curate Your Feed

You have more control over what you see than you might think. By following accounts that inspire, educate, or entertain you in a positive way, you can steer the algorithm to show you more of that kind of content. Unfollow or mute accounts that make you feel anxious or inadequate, and your feed will slowly evolve into a space that feels healthier for you.

3. Limit Your Time Online

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of endlessly scrolling. To prevent social media overload, consider setting time limits or taking small breaks throughout the day. Many platforms now offer tools that let you track and manage your screen time—take advantage of them!

4. Engage with Intention

Instead of mindlessly scrolling through your feed, try to engage more thoughtfully with the content that really adds value to your life. Whether it’s learning something new, connecting with loved ones, or discovering a new passion, aim to use social media in a way that enriches your experience.

5. Seek Professional Help if Needed

If you find that social media is negatively impacting your mental health, don’t hesitate to seek help. Speaking to a therapist or counselor can provide you with strategies to navigate your online experience in a healthier way.

Conclusion: Striking a Balance

There’s no denying that social media has changed our lives for the better in many ways. It keeps us connected, informed, and entertained. But like any powerful tool, it requires mindful use. Algorithms are designed to keep us engaged, but we can take charge of how we interact with them.

By becoming more aware of how social media affects our emotions, setting boundaries, and curating our feeds to support our well-being, we can make sure that social media remains a positive force in our lives. After all, the goal is to enjoy the benefits of connection without letting the digital world negatively impact our mental health.
